Influenced by the continuous and faster growing of economy, and the seasonal rise of number of laborers employed, in the first half of this year, the number of employees in the urban and town enterprises presented the rising situation for the first time, shifting from the continuous decline in the recent several years. In the meantime, the average remuneration of employees continued to rise faster.
1. The number of employees changed the straight slump condition since 1996 and began to rise for the first time. In the first half of this year, the number of employees in the national urban and town enterprises was 108.96 million persons, a year-on-year rise of 552,000 persons.
Analyzed by industry, among the 19 major national economy industries, there were 9 industries such as mining, manufacturing, construction and so on, the number of employees in which grew to different extents year on year, specifically speaking, the number of employees in manufacturing and construction rose most over the same period of last year, up by 1,133,000 persons and 379,000 persons; among the industries with the year-on-year decline in the number of employees, that in the wholesale and retail trade dropped greatest, dropping by 638,000 persons year on year.
Analyzed by ownership type, the number of employees in the state-owned enterprises was 68,076,000 persons, a year-on-year rise of 2311 thousand persons; that in the collective-owned enterprises was 9,709,000 persons, a year-on-year rise of 1,107,000 persons; that in other ownership types of enterprises was 31,174,000 persons, a year-on-year rise of 3,970,000 persons.
2. The remuneration of employees grew faster. In the first half of this year, the remuneration of employees nationwide totaled 776.2 billion yuan, a year-on-year rise of 14.3% which was 2.7 percentage points higher over the same period of last year. The average remuneration of employees reached 7100 yuan, a year-on-year rise of 14.1% which was 0.7 percentage points higher, specifically speaking, the average remuneration of the state-owned enterprises was 7360 yuan, a year-on-year rise of 15.2%; that of the collective-owned 4203 yuan, a year-on-year rise of 13.1%; that of other ownership types of enterprises was 7446 yuan, a year-on-year rise of 9.6%.
