In the first half of 2004, with all sorts of macro control and adjustment policies to produce the actual effect gradually, the trend in business scale¡¯s expansion of the nationwide construction enterprises slowed to some extent, the gross output value declined in the rise slightly, and the general economic benefit of enterprises was in a good condition.

    In the first half of this year, the gross output value of the construction enterprises totaled 1009.7 billion yuan, a year-on-year rise of 27.5% which was 3.8 percentage points less than the rise of this first quarter. Especially, the gross output value of construction in the eastern region reached 656 billion y uan, a year-on-year rise of 30.6% which was 5.5 percentage points lower; that in the central region registered 183.2 billion yuan, up 26.6% which was 4.8 percentage points less; that in the western region was 170.5 billion yuan, up 17.5% which roughly kept unchanged compared with the first quarter.

    In the first half of this year, the value of construction contracts signed by construction enterprises reached 2607.8 billion yuan, a year-on-year rise of 34.7% which was 19.5 percentage points lower over the first quarter; that by the state-owned and state share-holding enterprises totaled 1299.6 billion yuan, up 30.5% which was 17.6 percentage points lower.

    In the first half of this year, the floor space of houses under construction by construction enterprises reached 1.848 billion sq.m., a year-on-year rise of 18.5% which was down by 20.7 percentage points over this first quarter; the floor space of new-started houses was 0.709 billion sq.m., a year-on-year rise of 15.8% which was 9.3 percentage points lower.

    In the first half of this year, the value of completed buildings by construction enterprises was 420 billion yuan, a year-on-year rise of 28.3% which was up by 11.4 percentage points over the first quarter. The floor space of completed buildings was 0.31 billion sq.m., a year-on-year rise of 11.7% which was 4.4 percentage points higher over the first quarter.

    In the first half of this year, the revenue of the nationwide construction enterprises totaled 850.7 billion yuan calculated at the current price, a year-on-year rise of 25.9% which was 0.6 percentage point lower over the first quarter; the taxes turned in reached 29.8 billion yuan, a year-on-year rise of 21% which was down by 3.1 percentage points. The net actual net profits was 12.1 billion yuan, a year-on-year rise of 58.7%; the state-owned and state share holding construction enterprises got rid of loss situation with the actual profits of one billion yuan.
