Retail Sale of Social Consumer Goods in This October Showed a Year-on-year Rise of 14.2%.

    In this October, the retail sale of social consumer goods totaled 498.3 billion yuan, a year-on-year rise of 14.2%.

    Analyzed by region, the retail sale of consumer goods in the urban area reached 326.8 billion yuan, a year-on-year rise of 14.7%; that in the area at the county level and below was 171.6 billion yuan, up 13%.

    Analyzed by industry, the retail sale of the wholesale and retail trade reached 411.7 billion yuan, a year-on-year rise of 13.9%; that of catering trade totaled 72.6 billion yuan, up 18.5%; that of other industries totaled 14 billion yuan, up 1.6%.

    Analyzed by category, the retail sale of the foods, clothes and daily-used commodities in the wholesale and retail enterprises above designated size went up 18.4%, 17.8% and 17.5% year on year respectively. Among the retail sales of the foods, beverages and tobacco & liquors, that of meat, poultry and eggs was up 26.9%, that of other foods including grain and edible oil climbed 17.2%, that of tobacco & liquor was up 20%; that of garments, shoes, hats and knitted and woven textile products went up 17.8%; among the products for home decoration, the retail sale of construction and upholstering materials was up 37.9%, that of furniture climbed 32.9%, that of home electric apparatuses and audiovisual equipment went up 13.7%, that of washing detergents climbed 12.4%, that of toys for children showed a year-on-year rise of 25%; that of cosmetics was up 29.5%, that of gold, silver jewelry and pearl ornaments went up 24.5%; that of sports & recreational articles ascended 16%; that of communications equipment presented a year-on-year rise of 27.7% declining from the rise of 45.2% in the first three quarters; that of auto and related products was up 2.1%; that of petroleum and its products showed a year-on-year rise of 56%.
