In November 2022, the national Consumer Price Index (CPI) increased by 1.6 percent year-on-year. Among them, the urban increased by 1.5 percent and the rural increased by 1.7 percent; food prices increased by 3.7 percent, while nonfood prices increased by 1.1 percent; consumer goods prices increased by 2.3 percent and service prices increased by 0.5 percent. From January to November, on average, the national consumer price increased by 2.0 percent over the same period last year.--
In November, the national consumer price decreased by 0.2 percent month-on-month. Among them, the price in urban areas decreased by 0.2 percent and the price in rural areas decreased by 0.2 percent; food prices decreased by 0.8 percent, while nonfood prices were flat; consumer goods prices decreased by 0.1 percent and service prices decreased by 0.2 percent.
I. Year-on-Year Changes of Prices of Different Categories
In November, the price of food, tobacco and alcohol increased by 3.0 percent year-on-year, affecting the CPI increased by about 0.85 percentage points. Among food category, the price of livestock meat increased by 17.6 percent, affecting the CPI increased by about 0.56 percentage point, of which the price of pork increased by 34.4 percent, affecting the CPI increased by about 0.47 percentage point; egg prices increased by 9.9 percent, affecting CPI increased by about 0.07 percentage point; the price of fresh fruit increased by 9.6 percent, affecting the CPI increased by about 0.18 percentage point. The price of aquatic products increased by 3.4 percent, affecting the CPI increased by about 0.06 percentage point. Grain prices increased by 3.0 percent, affecting CPI increased by about 0.05 percentage point; fresh vegetable prices decreased by 21.2 percent, affecting the CPI decreased by about 0.53 percentage point.
The prices of the other seven major categories increased six and decreased one year-on-year. Among them, the prices of transportation, communication, other supplies and services, daily necessities and services increased by 2.9, 2.3 and 1.5 percent respectively, the prices of education, culture and entertainment, clothing and health care increased by 1.3, 0.5 and 0.5 percent respectively, and the prices of housing decreased by 0.2 percent.
II. Month-on-Month Changes of Prices of Different Categories
In November, the price of food, tobacco and alcohol decreased by 0.5 percent month-on-month, affecting the CPI decreased by about 0.14 percentage point. Among foodstuff, fresh vegetable prices decreased by 8.3 percent, affecting the CPI decreased by about 0.18 percentage point. The price of aquatic products decreased by 1.1 percent, affecting the CPI decreased by about 0.02 percentage point. the price of pork decreased by 0.7 percent, affecting the CPI decreased by about 0.01 percentage point; the price of fresh fruit increased by 1.5 percent, affecting the CPI increased by about 0.03 percentage point. Egg prices increased by 1.3 percent, affecting CPI increased by about 0.01 percentage point;
The prices of the other seven major categories increased two, leveled two and decreased three month-on-month. Among them, the prices of clothing, transportation and communications increased by 0.3 and 0.1 percent respectively; the prices of housing and health care were flat; the prices of education, culture and entertainment, daily necessities and services and other supplies and services decreased by 0.4, 0.3 and 0.1 percent respectively.
