Total Retail Sales of Consumer Goods in the First Eleven Months of 2022

In November, the total retail sales of social consumer goods was 3,861.5 billion yuan, a year-on-year decrease of 5.9 percent. Among them, the retail sales of consumer goods other than automobiles reached 3,482.8 billion yuan, down 6.1 percent.

 

From January to November, the total retail sales of social consumer goods was 39,919 billion yuan, a year-on-year decrease of 0.1 percent. Among them, the retail sales of consumer goods other than automobiles reached 35,849 billion yuan, down 0.2 percent.


According to the location of business units, the retail sales of urban consumer goods in November was 3,320.4 billion yuan, a year-on-year decrease of 6.0 percent; the retail sales of rural consumer goods reached 541.1 billion yuan, down 5.2 percent. From January to November, the retail sales of urban consumer goods reached 34,585.3 billion yuan, a year-on-year decrease of 0.1 percent; the retail sales of rural consumer goods reached 5,333.7 billion yuan, up 0.2 percent.

 

According to consumption types, in November, the retail sales of goods reached 3,418 billion yuan, a decrease of 5.6 percent year-on-year; catering revenue was 443.5 billion yuan, down 8.4 percent. From January to November, the retail sales of goods reached 35,940.6 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 0.5 percent; catering revenue was 3,978.4 billion yuan, down 5.4 percent.


According to the retail formats, from January to November, the retail sales of supermarkets, convenience stores, professional stores in retail enterprises above designated size increased by 3.1, 4.3, and 3.6 percent respectively year-on-year, and that of the specialty stores were essentially flat from last year, and department stores decreased by 8.0 percent.

 

From January to November, the national online retail sales reached 12,458.5 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 4.2 percent. Among them, the online retail sales of physical goods reached 10,809.8 billion yuan, up 6.4 percent, accounting for 27.1 percent of the total retail sales of social consumer goods; among the online retail sales of physical goods, food, clothing and consumer goods increased by 15.1, 3.4 and 6.1 percent respectively.
