In October 2022, the national Consumer Price Index (CPI) increased by 2.1 percent year-on-year. Among them, the urban increased by 2.0 percent and the rural increased by 2.5 percent; food prices increased by 7.0 percent, while nonfood prices increased by 1.1 percent; consumer goods prices increased by 3.3 percent and service prices increased by 0.4 percent. From January to October, on average, the national consumer price increased by 2.0 percent over the same period last year.
In October, the national consumer price increased by 0.1 percent month-on-month. Among them, the urban was flat and the rural increased by 0.1 percent; food prices increased by 0.1 percent, while nonfood prices were flat; and consumer goods prices increased by 0.1 percent and service prices were flat.
I. Year-on-Year Changes of Prices of Different Categories
In October, the price of food, tobacco and alcohol increased by 5.2 percent year-on-year, affecting the CPI increased by about 1.43 percentage points. Among them, the prices of transportation, communication, other supplies and services, daily necessities and services increased by 3.1, 1.9 and 1.4 percent respectively, the prices of education, culture and entertainment, clothing and health care increased by 1.2, 0.5 and 0.5 percent respectively, and the prices of housing decreased by 0.2 percent.
II. Month-on-Month Changes of Prices of Different Categories
In October, the price of food, tobacco and alcohol increased by 0.2 percent month-on-month, affecting the CPI increased by about 0.04 percentage point. Among food category, the price of livestock meat increased by 5.2 percent, affecting the CPI increased by about 0.18 percentage point, of which the price of pork increased by 9.4 percent, affecting the CPI increased by about 0.16 percentage point; egg prices increased by 2.2 percent, affecting CPI increased by about 0.02 percentage point; the price of fresh fruit decreased by 4.5 percent, affecting the CPI decreased by about 0.10 percentage point. the price of aquatic products decreased by 2.3 percent, affecting the CPI to decreased by about 0.05 percentage point. the price of fresh fruit decreased by 1.6 percent, affecting the CPI decreased by about 0.03 percentage point.

Among them, the prices of other supplies and services, clothing increased by 0.4 and 0.3 percent respectively; the prices of daily necessities and services, education, culture and entertainment increased by 0.3 and 0.2 percent respectively; the prices of health care were flat; the prices of transportation and communications and housing decreased by 0.4 and 0.1 percent respectively.
