From January to April, the total retail sales of social consumer goods reached 13,814.2 billion yuan, a year-on-year decrease of 0.2 percent. Among them, the retail sales of consumer goods other than automobiles reached 12,480.7 billion yuan, an increase of 0.8 percent.
In April, the total retail sales of social consumer goods was 2,948.3 billion yuan, a year-on-year decrease of 11.1 percent. Among them, the retail sales of consumer goods other than automobiles were 2,691.6 billion yuan, down 8.4 percent.
According to the location of business units, from January to April, the retail sales of urban consumer goods reached 11,992.9 billion yuan, a year-on-year decrease of 0.3 percent; the retail sales of rural consumer goods reached 1,821.3 billion yuan, an increase of 0.4 percent. In April, the retail sales of urban consumer goods reached 2,563.7 billion yuan, a year-on-year decrease of 11.3 percent; the retail sales of rural consumer goods reached 384.6 billion yuan, down 9.8 percent.
According to the types of consumption, from January to April, retail sales of goods reached 12,488 billion yuan, an increase of 0.4 percent year-on-year; catering revenue was 1,326.2 billion yuan, down 5.1 percent. In April, retail sales of goods reached 2,687.4 billion yuan, down 9.7 percent year-on-year; catering revenue was 260.9 billion yuan, down 22.7 percent.
According to the retail format, from January to April, the retail sales of supermarkets, convenience stores and professional stores in retail units above the designated size increased by 3.6, 6.8 and 2.5 percent respectively year-on-year, and the retail sales of department stores and specialty stores decreased by 8.2 and 5.9 percent respectively.
From January to April, China's online retail sales reached 3,869.2 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 3.3 percent. Among them, the online retail sales of physical goods reached 3,288.7 billion yuan, an increase of 5.2 percent, accounting for 23.8 percent of the total retail sales of social consumer goods; in the online retail sales of physical goods, food and use goods increased by 12.9 and 6.3 percent respectively, and clothing decreased by 1.7 percent.
